Citi Bikes
It’s my first time celebrating September 1 as Labor day. We’re renting a beautiful sublet and hosting later in the day.
Hosting is a really popular thing to do in New York, and it’s a lot more casual. I think the architecture of the place and high density of migrants contributes a lot to this culture.
The closest I’ve come to this amount of people-ing was in Nairobi. There we had beautiful houses, and someone was always hosting.
I’m outgrowing writing as my primary tool for figure-outing.
My life has become much fuller, and it is no longer practical (or even possible) to sift through the pieces through letters to strangers.
But also, I’ve also built more emotional capacity, and I suppose needing to write less is a symptom of releasing control.
Now I’m looking to use it more creatively. Fingers crossed.
If I had to reduce this NY trip into a thing, it’d be a Citi Bike.
This is the summer where I learnt to ride confidently.
One pedal at a time.
And not afraid to fall.
