I’ll tell you everything.
When did the open internet of far far away strangers become the close family we turn to for substantiation of our thoughts – Guys, I thought of this cool joke, RT if it’s cool? When did never-seen-before people suddenly become the ones we want to share the details of our daily lives with?
Or is it suddenly an abomination to conceive thoughts – personal thoughts – within the walls of our minds and keep them there?
I’m just as guilty. At least till now – now when I am under mental pressure to tweet that a movie I saw was cool. It all got me wondering about when I started needing to hear other points of view to fully form mine, when I started sharing details of my daily life to a bunch of strangers; who in turn can summarize my life without ever seeing me.
The internet is good. Heck it is a great tool; taught me most of what I know, and connected me with great people. But ultimately, when do we realize we’re sharing too much? Or is it suddenly an abomination to conceive thoughts – personal thoughts – within the walls of our minds and keep them there? Or have we altogether lost the plot on what’s personal or not?
I’m hence ensuring that I observe my tweets, and keep the personal details locked inside my head, or a diary app. If you post your every location, physical hangout, thought, funny occurrence, work experience, weight, relationship – and in fact everything that happens in your house – online, you should join me.
Now let me go ahead and share this to all my social networks, cos after-all I need someone to tell me “Nice Post” and make my day.
